Things are looking up for #Japan in America

Last week in synagogues, churches and other places of worship Americans commemorated the 1 year anniversary of the earthquake, tsunami and nuclear crisis in Japan of 11 March 2011.

For the first time in many years and at the prodding of a friend, I attended a church service; this one at the amazingly welcoming and diverse Middle Collegiate Church on the lower East Side of NYC. He told me there would be a special memorial service for Japan.

You don’t have to be religious to feel the healing and nurturing power of song in this congregations’ efforts to share the love via social media.

I bet most people, like me, left the gathering that warm Sunday morning feeling…..things are looking up.
