I feel strongly about both individual guts and fortitude as well as public support initiatives to help young people get ahead. After all these weeks of politial bickering in America about debt ceiling limits, I read with hope what is happening in my native New York as written up the in the New York Times today 3 Aug 2011. 

Immediately after reading the piece I posted a comment on the NYT online edition – which is highlighted by the editors. 

I am reminded of Japanese youth, many who post-earthquake are activerly seeking ways to rebuild Japan. Private and public sector initiatives linked to sound pubic policy and national vision can help build a better future for Japan too.
